The Afghan Campaign - Steven Pressfield Borrow, don't buy. It wasn't a well designed story. Jumps from boys in Greece to basic training (kinda) and then jumps to battles in Afghanistan. Doesn't bother to get you interested in details of soldiering (which made Gates of Fire so good). Pointless life in Alexander's campaign, almost no character development or "clash of civilizations" theme.
